Job Overview: We seek a hard dedicated, dependable, and safety-minded worker to join our team. This is outdoor work exposed to different weather conditions. After 1 month of probation period, you can be offered to get onboard for a full-time permanent job.
As a Construction Layout Technician, you will focus on providing a customer with a proactive, timely, responsible, accurate, and precise service based on given reference lines and elevation. To perform the job you should be familiar with building foundation design, and different types of concrete structures. You should know how to use a measuring tape, optical level, rotating laser, and surveying rod. It would be best to have hands-on experience using hand and power tools.
Skills:
· Experience in construction layout commercial projects.
· Read, understand, and gather information from blueprints.
· Perform with a focus on detail, quality, double-checking, and a high level of accuracy; analytical skills is a must.
· Familiarity to AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and Project).
· Organizational and coordinating abilities focusing on time management; able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
· Strong interpersonal and listening skills to build positive relationships and collaborate with team members, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with other construction workers to ensure proper and on-schedule construction layout.
- Mark out gridlines. offsets, control points, elevation etc.
- Snap lines with pencil marks, and a chalk line cleaning the surface with a broom, rag, or hand brush when needed (always).
- Feature and secure marks and lines with colored spray paint.
- Know the basic principles and sequence of concrete forming construction operations.
- Read and interpret rebar shop drawings and be ready to answer questions about it when needed.
- Mark out slope, high, and low points with pickets.
- Visually check and maintain (clean) equipment and tools assigned for work, and report any problems or malfunctions.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, and wear protective gear such as hard hats, goggles, boots, and gloves while working.
Requirements:
- Physical fitness and manual dexterity to carry out tasks that involve body and knee bending, claiming stairs, and using hand tools and surveying equipment
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for themselves and others
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings to determine the layout and placement of concrete forms and top of concrete elevations
- Experience with using hand and power tools
- Familiarity with different types of concrete design and structures
- Ability to select the appropriate material for a specific job
- Good communication skills to work effectively with other ironworkers, construction workers, and supervisors
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and at heights
- Certification or training in working at heights, WHIMS, and WHSA in 4-step are mandatory.
