Job Summary
We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Construction Equipment Operators to join our team. This role involves the operation of specialized tools and equipment such as abrasive blasters, grinders, and other surface preparation tools for various construction and demolition projects. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties
- Operate abrasive blasting equipment, grinders, and related tools for cleaning, surface preparation, or material removal.
- Set up, inspect, and maintain blasting and grinding equipment before and after use.
- Follow safe work procedures and company policies at all times.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Remove coatings, rust, debris, asbestos or contaminants from surfaces according to project specifications.
- Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and general construction duties as required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.
- Identify and report any hazards, defects, or maintenance needs in equipment or work areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience operating blasters, grinders, or similar construction tools preferred.
- Knowledge of safe work practices, WHMIS, and occupational health & safety requirements.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and operate heavy equipment and tools.
- Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and elevated work areas.
- CSA-approved steel-toed boots and other basic PPE (specialized PPE will be provided).
