Key Responsibilities
Construction Accounting & Finance
- Perform full-cycle construction bookkeeping (A/P, A/R, payroll, intercompany transfers, bank reconciliations).
- Manage job costing and project budgets with precision.
- Prepare and submit construction draw packages for lenders, including handling holdbacks and lien periods.
- Track and process change orders and ensure accurate billing.
- Generate and present monthly financial reports (P&L, cash flow, project cost reports).
Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate supplier selections (flooring, tile, appliances, millwork, lighting) and ensure timely approvals.
- Liaise with trades for progress updates, scheduling, and problem resolution.
- Maintain construction documentation (permits, contracts, insurance, compliance, WCB).
- Manage office operations, communication, and correspondence (emails, phone, scheduling).
- Support client communication with professional updates and documentation.
- Proactively anticipate needs and keep the business running smoothly.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience in construction or homebuilding (mandatory).
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online (or equivalent construction accounting systems).
- Strong knowledge of construction financials: job costing, draws, holdbacks, change orders.
- Familiarity with Buildertrend, Procore, or other construction management software (an asset).
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage both accounting and operational tasks without supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (occasional site/supplier visits).
