About the Position:
As a Community Connector, you will support youth and their families to access community and mental health supports by working collaboratively with a coalition of community stakeholders, social service agencies, and health care providers. This position will assist in the implementation of the mission and vision of the coalition, which is to ensure that young people, aged 11-25, have improved and coordinated access to mental health, primary care, and social services within Medicine Hat and area.
This is a term position to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting young people, ages 11-25, and their caregivers/families to access various levels of community and mental health supports.
- Coordinate and appropriately direct ingoing and outgoing referrals from partnering agencies for programs and services at the Kickstand Centre and in the broader community.
- Foster and model personal relationships that result in young people seeing service providers and accessing available. programs, such as health care and community support networks.
- Provide warm hand-offs to partnering agencies.
- Complete intake with new participants and coordinate services based on identified needs.
- Accurately document all participant services, including those provided by partner organizations, in Kickstand’s database.
- Plan and facilitate group activities that promote life and social skill development.
- Coordinate Kickstand’s local youth advisory group.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Post Secondary education in human services or related field.
- Two years’ experience working with young people, 11–25 years old.
- Experience working with diverse populations and with multiple stakeholders.
- Evening and weekend work will be mandatory.
- Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.
- Demonstrate professionalism within all aspects of employment, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Self-motivated; able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication.
- Microsoft Office abilities (SharePoint, One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate.
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months.
- Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, 3-year non-commercial Driver’s Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
