Description

The Department of Anaesthesia in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 2 years (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

This position reports to the Principal Investigator and takes direction from the Study Leads.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will be involved in the development of patient outcomes databases for both the pain and rehabilitation teams at the Alberta Children's Hospital. The successful applicant will lead the submission of research ethics and Alberta Health Services (AHS) Clinical Operations approvals. They will develop and monitor databases for patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient reported experience measures (PREMs). They will integrate PROMs & PREMs into ConnectCare with the help of ConnectCare support teams. They will work with multi-site partners and file legal data-sharing agreements. They will coordinate the sharing of data with applicable registries. They will coordinate patient partners and lead the recruitment for additional research studies using the databases as a research registry. They will support research trainees and engagement with additional clinical partners and operational leaders.

Hours are 7 hours per day, usually 8:00am to 4:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating with clinical and research teams, and patient partners to identify PROMS and PREMS
  • Working within these teams to develop research protocols
  • Applying for UCalgary and AHS ethics approvals
  • Maintain electronic records of all study material including protocols, informed consent forms, questionnaires, renewals, modifications, etc.
  • Programming REDCap databases for data collection
  • Creating scoring system with REDCap database
  • Monitor and maintain databases
  • Working with ConnectCare team to integrate data collection tools into ConnectCare
  • Working with multi-site partners and file legal data-sharing agreements
  • Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Maintain established protocols and procedures
  • Recruit eligible participants for research projects
  • Extract data from existing databases
  • Liaise with all research team members and sponsor/other collaborators
  • Provide research support, and produce reports
  • Respond to email inquiries from participants and provide support for participants accessing study measures

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree is required
  • Graduate degree related to health research involving human participants - strongly recommended
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential
  • Ability to plan and direct research and administrative activities within a team environment is required
  • Experience in data management and data entry preferred
  • Strong knowledge of REDCap programming an asset
  • Knowledge of University policies including submission of projects to ethics boards is an asset
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects is required
  • Must be fluent in English and have strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential
  • Must be cooperative and dependable
  • Skills in Microsoft Office Suite are required
