About the role

The Claim Examiner will valuate and adjudicate travel insurance claims according to policy terms, conditions, and applicable regulations. You will process medical, trip cancellation/interruption, baggage loss, and other travel-related claims while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Claim Examiner will efficiently guide the claimant through their claims journey by proactively providing updates and facilitating claim settlement requirements.

What you'll do

  • Review and analyze claims documentation against policy wordings to determine coverage eligibility and benefit amounts
  • Request additional information from clients, healthcare providers, and travel suppliers
  • Calculate benefit payments according to policy limits and exclusions, and process claim payments and/or issue denial letters
  • Document claim decisions with clear rationales
  • Manage claim files from receipt to resolution
  • Communicate with claimants to provide status, claims decision rationale, and respond to general inquiries through voice and digital channels, including handling of inbound phone calls
  • Assist with appeals and escalated cases
  • Identify potential fraud indicators

The skills you bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of insurance regulations and industry standards

Preferred qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency is an asset
  • Travel or Property & Casualty insurance experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is an asset
  • Experience in claims adjudication
  • Healthcare or medical background
