The role of the civilian clerk is to take the burden of data entry away from frontline officers. This allows officers to spend more time on frontline services.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or its equivalent (i.e. grade 12 from any province of Canada). Candidates who do not have a grade 12 diploma, but have completed a college diploma program or a university degree program will be considered as having a grade 12 diploma. Applicants educated outside Canada should refer to the Government of Canada - Education Assessment Resources
- Not have any criminal charges pending before the courts
- Be of good moral character
- Be available to work shifts (days, nights, weekends, and holidays)
- Successfully pass the Selection Process
- Ability to listen to and transcribe dictated reports
- Analytical skills to identify conflicting information within reports and statistical data
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including English composition, spelling and grammar
- Proficiency with a number of windows-based computer applications
- Typing and keyboarding skills (minimum 40 wpm)
- Listening skills
- Prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Stress management skills
The Hiring Process

- Psychological assessment and background investigation

Candidates who are successful at the interview stage are required to undergo a full background security screening check and successfully complete mandatory training to achieve “Records 1” status. Records 1 status is a term that will be explained during the testing process.
The Civilian Data Entry Unit operates 24 hours a day. CDE clerks must be available to work alternating shift schedules, including weekends and statutory holidays.
This position reports to the office to work in person in Orillia, ON.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: From $31.18 per hour
