The Elves Adult Program is a community access day program for adults living with developmental disabilities.
We are currently looking for an instructor (front line staff) to join our team for 9 weeks during the months of June, July and August. This is a temporary position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Eligible candidates meet the following requirements:
- are between 18 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment.
- are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and are legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
The following are the chief responsibilities for this position:
- Participating in the development of appropriate, functional and flexible programs, and implementation of same for a group of individuals with an atmosphere of warmth and respect.
- Facilitating community access.
- Consistent practice of health and safety and hygiene activities relating to the Program participants. These include supporting individuals with toileting and personal care.
- Providing behavioural support to individuals who might display behaviours of concern, as per specific plans in place.
- Demonstrating consistent and appropriate interpersonal skills with regard to working within a multi-professional model.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma (Grade 12)
