Role Summary
As a Business Development Rep (BDR) at Third Octet, you'll connect with prospective buyers at some of Canada’s most forward-thinking companies, helping spark relationships that drive our continued growth. Through determination, curiosity, and innovative outreach, you'll be responsible for generating and qualifying leads for Third Octet’s Managed IT solutions, primarily through structured outbound efforts. You'll work closely with Sales and Marketing to refine campaigns, contribute to repeatable processes, and set high-quality first-touch meetings for our Business Development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow into a seasoned closer or even a sales leader while building the foundational skills of modern B2B prospecting.
While we have an office in Port Credit, Mississauga, we are a remote-first company and have employees across the GTA with others in Halifax and BC. This role can be remote, but may require visiting local businesses or events in the GTA.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct market research to identify high-fit companies and contacts aligned with our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
- Build and maintain targeted prospect lists to support structured outbound campaigns.
- Initiate contact through personalized outreach via email, phone, and LinkedIn.
- Execute outreach sequences in our CRM, blending social touches, messaging, and timely follow-ups.
- Lead initial discovery and qualification conversations with IT and business stakeholders.
- Identify key pain points, priorities, and potential alignment with Third Octet’s services.
- Clearly articulate our value proposition at a high level to spark interest and validate fit.
- Set qualified first-touch meetings with the Business Development team for deeper engagement and next steps.
- Prioritize and manage daily activities to maintain a consistent, efficient outbound pipeline.
- Accurately track all outreach, engagement, and outcomes in our CRM.
- Refine and optimize outreach assets, including sequences, templates, and messaging.
- Document learnings and contribute to the BDR playbook to support role evolution and scale.
- Develop profiles on buyer personas, common objections, and success triggers.
- Share insights with the sales and marketing teams to improve targeting, messaging, and campaign performance.
- Stay current on industry trends, technology shifts, and the business models of target prospects.
Requirements
- Proven success in developing client relationships. Bonus points for driving sales in the tech industry, particularly in IT services, managed IT, or SaaS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly personalize messaging and spark interest.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn about emerging technologies and business challenges in the SMB space.
- High energy, persistence, and comfort with rejection in a prospecting-heavy role.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple outreach campaigns and priorities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Comfortable using CRM tools, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, sales engagement platforms, and Generative AI.
