Business Administrator / Executive Assistant (Hybrid Role)
Location: West Coast of Newfoundland (On-Site or Willing to Relocate)
Full-Time | Immediate Start | Great Coastal Trail Authority (GCTA)
Are you ready to help lead one of the most ambitious rural revitalization projects in Canada — from the heart of Newfoundland’s west coast?
The Great Coastal Trail Authority (GCTA) is building an 850km world-class hiking and biking trail that stretches from Gros Morne National Park to L’Anse aux Meadows — and we’re looking for someone exceptional to help us run the show.
This role is equal parts Business Administrator and Executive Assistant — a hybrid position for someone who thrives on keeping operations tight, leaders empowered, and the big picture moving forward.
What You’ll Do
- Support the GCTA leadership team with high-level admin support: schedules, communication, follow-ups, and prep
- Manage internal operations: payroll, RRSP/benefits, invoicing, and expense tracking
- Coordinate vendor relations and procurement for trail infrastructure and logistics
- Track project budgets, financial records, and grant reporting requirements
- Onboard new hires and help maintain compliance with nonprofit standards
- Create systems that keep the team running smoothly across departments and field locations
Who You Are
- A proactive problem-solver with a sharp eye for details
- Comfortable in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities
- Confident with tools like QuickBooks, Excel, Google Workspace, and scheduling software
- Experienced in business administration and/or executive support (minimum 3+ years)
- Discreet, organized, and calm under pressure
- Passionate about rural development, outdoor tourism, and community-building
Location Requirement
- You live on the West Coast of Newfoundland, or you’re ready to relocate to this spectacular part of the province.
- This is an on-site role with occasional travel along the trail region — we need someone who knows (or wants to know) the land we’re building on.
Bonus Points If You...
- Have experience in a nonprofit or tourism organization
- Have worked on community-driven or infrastructure-related projects
- Know what it’s like to be the one person everyone depends on to keep things together
What You’ll Get
- A key role in shaping the future of one of Canada’s most exciting destination development projects
- A fast-paced, meaningful work environment where your voice matters
- The chance to live and work on the edge of one of the most beautiful places in the world
- Competitive salary, benefits, and potential for growth as the project scales
