Job Overview
The Bakery Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing daily baking operations within a high-volume campus food service setting as well as supporting catering functions and wholesale clients. This position ensures the quality, consistency, and efficiency of baked goods preparation, maintains food safety standards, and provides leadership to bakery staff. The Bakery Supervisor position is ideal for someone with production baking experience looking to step into a supervisory role focusing on scratch-made goods using local ingredients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain sufficient stock of products to fulfill on campus, catering and wholesale needs through use of par levels and prep sheets
- Produce scratch baked goods to company standards using existing recipes or providing new recipes, ensuring precise measuring of ingredients to yield consistent results
- Use catering contracts to produce weekly prep lists to ensure all needs are met
- Brainstorm and develop new recipes or adapt existing recipes
- Ensure proper rotation and storage of all baked goods
- Plate and present baked goods in an attractive manner to fulfill catering contracts
- Communicate ordering needs in a timely manner to Chef de Cuisine/Sous Chef
- Report any equipment maintenance requirements or malfunctions to management
- Provide support and direction to production baker
- Maintain a clean and tidy work space
Skills:
- Attention to detail ensuring all products meet company standards
- Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills
- Knowledge and understanding of dietary requirements including vegan and gluten free
- Relevant baking experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong math skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to assess and problems solve any quality/product issues
- Ability to stand for long periods of time/ Ability to lift 35 lbs consistently
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing company and client needs
