Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Associate Director, Media Planning to join our team. This role is ideal for a media professional with strong leadership skills, proven expertise in multi-channel advertising, and a passion for driving results through innovative media strategies.
As Associate Director, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing integrated media campaigns, leading client relationships, and mentoring a team of planners and buyers. You will work closely with senior leadership, clients, and cross-functional partners to ensure campaigns deliver measurable impact and align with business objectives

Responsibilities
Strategic Media Leadership
- Develop, oversee, and optimize integrated media strategies across digital, broadcast, social, CTV, OOH, print, and emerging platforms.
- Translate client business objectives into effective media plans that drive brand growth and ROI.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and evolving media technologies to inform client strategies.
Client Management
- Act as a key point of contact for senior clients, providing strategic counsel and thought leadership.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of trust and satisfaction.
- Present strategies, insights, and performance results in a compelling, data-driven manner.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of media planners, coordinators, and buyers.
- Oversee workflow, quality control, and professional growth of junior team members.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and performance-driven team culture.
Campaign Execution & Performance
- Oversee the end-to-end execution of media campaigns, ensuring on-time delivery, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Partner with analytics teams to measure performance, optimize campaigns, and report actionable insights.
- Manage budgets, negotiate with vendors, and ensure cost efficiency while maximizing media value.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- 6–10 years of progressive experience in media planning and buying, with proven leadership experience.
- Deep knowledge of Canadian media landscape (digital, programmatic, TV, radio, OOH, print, social, search).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in campaign measurement, attribution, and optimization.
- Excellent client-facing communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and deliver measurable business results.
- Experience with tools such as Comscore, Nielsen, Google Marketing Platform, DSPs, ad servers, and analytics dashboards.
