Looking for a new and exciting opportunity? We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Station Operations to join our team!
This position will be required to support station operations 24/7 and may involve working on evenings and weekends as required by the business.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager, Station Operations, you will be responsible for managing the daily operation and administration of the Station Operations section and ensuring section services are operated in a cost effective manner in accordance with the TTC’s goals and objectives.

You will also be responsible for supervising a subordinate workforce and ensuring a high degree of productivity, employee morale, and customer service.

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Acting as a resource and providing consultation, direction, advice and guidance for the Stations Department.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring all controls and procedures related to attendance management, meet and set KPI targets for overtime and labour costs.
  • Ensure that various administrative tasks are carried out in a timely manner by clerical support staff. Detail work assignments to personnel, scheduling work and maximizing the use of available resources.
  • Maintaining section files and records on incidents, discipline, performance and attendance, and following record retention guidelines.
  • Planning, developing, and coaching the activities of employees in the daily performance of their assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Act as a resource and provide consultation, direction, advice and guidance for the Stations Department. May be required to provide expert technical opinion/or advice during legal proceedings and/or governmental investigations.
  • Develop, foster and maintain contacts within the transit industry to encourage an information network.
  • Inspect work locations and conducting regular station visits, communicating with supervisory personnel and unionized employees and participating in Safety Talks for the section.
  • Research information and prepare various reports and recommendations related to the work. Conduct various presentations and workshops to senior staff and frontline personnel.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your educational background will consist of the completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • You will have a minimum of 3 years of related and progressively responsible supervisory experience that demonstrated you could effectively lead, coach and motivate staff to ensure sectional objectives are met with due regard for quality, quantity, effectiveness and deadlines.
  • Your application will demonstrate that you have a comprehensive knowledge of business administration, business practices and procedures; knowledge of budgetary and financial principles and fiscal policies and good knowledge of the TTC’s budgeting process.
  • Your application will reveal sound knowledge of policies, legislation and initiatives impacting the employees and work practices of the Station Operations section.
  • You have good knowledge of the Collective Agreement, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights Code, etc.
  • You have working knowledge of computers and computerized applications (e.g. Word, Excel, database maintenance, Internet, etc.).
  • You have the ability to take independent action when coping with problems, changing situations and emergencies.
  • You have demonstrated ability to work under extreme pressure necessary to meet a multitude of corporate mandates.
  • Your ability to set targets, objectives, delegate tasks and follow-up to ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Your ability to track multiple projects and make sound business oriented decisions in a timely fashion.
  • In addition, you have sound judgement; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with complex issues and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize problems and evaluate solutions.
  • You must have or acquire comprehensive knowledge of TTC organizational structure, operations, policies and practices applicable to the work performed.
  • You will be required to obtain Subway Rule Book and WHMIS certification.
  • Divisional Management experience is considered an asset.
