Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

As the Assistant Director of Care, you will be responsible for the day-to day management of Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers in delivery of resident care. Manages clinical, compliance, in-service education, and continuous quality improvement functions.


What you will do

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the nursing division’s delivery of high-quality resident care.
  • Manage employees in a manner consistent with District values, policies and procedures, including work scheduling, training and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure that employees work safely and in compliance with the relevant statutes and regulations and with the safe work procedures and directives as established by the District.
  • Maintain, develop, and monitor policies, procedures in accordance with legislative and corporate standards for nursing staff, residents, families, medical staff, and service providers.
  • Establish staffing patterns and work schedules and monitor and adjust as necessary.

What you will need

  • University graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent;
  • Registered Nurse with a Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques in long term care.
  • Over 3 years managerial experience in a health care setting.
  • Proven ability to design and implement new concepts and to accomplish performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated highly developed skills in: leadership, team building, organizational development, customer service, written and oral communications and technological proficiency.
