We are a small, close-knit childcare centre located just outside downtown Edmonton, and we’re looking for a passionate and organized Assistant Director to join our team! This is a dual role where you’ll not only support the day-to-day operations of the centre but also take the lead in our Out of School Care (OSC) program. You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment for our children—and support our team with your leadership and heart.
Key Responsibilities:
As Assistant Director:
- Support the Centre Director with day-to-day administrative duties and licensing compliance
- Assist with staff scheduling, communication, and supervision
- Help coordinate enrolment, tours, and parent communication
- Support the development and implementation of centre policies and procedures
- Step in to support classrooms when needed
- Maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere for families and staff
As Out of School Care Educator:
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities for school-aged children
- Ensure a safe and nurturing environment during before- and after-school hours, as well as PD days and school breaks
- Build positive relationships with children and their families
- Lead by example with positive guidance and behavior management strategies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating OSC room
Requirements:
- Child Development Supervisor or Worker certification (Level 2 or 3)
- Minimum two years experience as Assistant.
- Current First Aid & CPR Level C
- Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Leadership experience is an asset, but a motivated educator ready to grow is welcome to apply
- Experience in Out of School Care or working with school-aged children is preferred
