Bluewater Methadone Clinic Sarnia is seeking a dedicated Addiction Counsellor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping individuals overcome addiction and lead fulfilling lives.
*Responsibilities*
- Provide daily counselling and support to clients struggling with addiction
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals/physicians to ensure proper care for clients
- Non-judgmental approach to clients
- Ability to calmly problem-solve in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Motivational interviewing skills
- Substance use assessments and program screening/intake
- Occational reception coverage
- Establish strong, therapeutic rapport and maintain appropriate professional relationships
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
*Experience and requirements*
- Diploma in a social service or related field
- 1 year experience in addiction and mental health counselling
- Knowledge of the various treatment modalities specific to addictions and mental health
- MUST have knowledge of community resources and provincial addiction treatment services
- Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care practices
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Demonstrated capacity for accurate and efficient documentation and computer data entry
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to accept and apply feedback and take initiative.
- Demonstrate regular, punctual attendance
