Accounts Payable & Expenses Advisor
Location: Calgary (Hybrid) 12-month parental leave coverage

The Opportunity
- Join our finance and accounting team as an Accounts Payable & Expenses Advisor, where you will facilitate the full cycle accounts payable process and accurate vendor and expense management practices. You will collaborate with teams to improve workflows, support financial controls, and contribute to system and training enhancements. Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounts Payable: Manage end-to-end AP processes including invoice intake and coding, timely approvals, and payment runs ensuring all AP transactions are accurate, well-documented, and properly classified within the correct accounting period.
- Expense Management: Review employee expenses for adherence to policy, provide training, and monitor for duplicates or issues.
- Vendor and Data Management: Maintain accurate vendor records, approve new setups, and ensure compliance with internal policies and subcontractor agreements.
- Reconciliations and Month-End Support: Reconcile vendor and Visa statements, prepare accruals, and support month-end close.
- Process Improvement and Systems: Analyze AP and expense data to drive process improvements and support system enhancements.
- Documentation and Audit Support: Maintain organized payable records and assist with audit and compliance documentation requests as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Project Managers and the accounting team to ensure proper cost coding and timely approvals; resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders.
About You and Your Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience of progressive experience in accounts payable, expense management or general accounting, preferably in the project, professional services, or consulting industry.
- A diploma or equivalent in accounting, finance, or business administration is desired.
- Experience with full-cycle AP, vendor management, and reviewing employee expenses.
- Experience with project management and project accounting software, previous experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is an asset.
- An enthusiastic and positive attitude; organized and adaptable with a passion for consistently delivering outstanding work.
- Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solving and a continuous improvement mindset.
