Employment Status Part Time Employment Type Leave Replacement Job SummaryReporting to the Director of the Learning Commons and Academic Success Centre, and in regular consultation and coordination with faculty and staff in the area, this position is responsible for the general operation of the Academic Success Centre. This work includes welcoming and assisting all visitors and facilitating access to testing (both internally and externally), tutoring, and accessibility advising services, as well as providing administrative support that enables the department to report, track and continuously improve its operations. All of this work is done in a manner which supports a student-centric approach that is welcoming, safe and inclusive to all.
Specific Duties
- Responsible for the general operation of the Academic Success Centre including, but not limited to, providing reception services; responding to inquiries; assisting in preparing and publishing schedules for various available tutoring services; and scheduling of appointments to access services within the Centre.
- Provides administrative support to Accessibility Services, including reviewing safety plans.
- Coordinates and schedules internal and external tests to the College, ensuring the integrity of test data and in compliance with third-party agreements; and invigilates as required.
- Generates score reports for CNC admission related testing and manages results spreadsheets. Submits results to appropriate internal parties.
- Compiles, prepares, and reports statistics on usage of department services in support of continuous improvement and to comply with Ministry directives, particularly around accessibility services
- Maintains inventory of required resources, tools and supplies for services provided within the Centre, and coordinates with the Learning Commons and the Accessibility Advisor as required.
- Assists students and instructors in the use of testing equipment and programs to meet testing needs and accessibility requirements.
- Ensures all Centre equipment is in working order, and coordinates repairs and technical assistance when required.
- Resolves issues related to testing, and refers to appropriate instructors or departments when necessary.
- To assist in the promotion of the Centre, prepares and updates tools and materials that are accurate, and generate interest and awareness of services provided.
- Trains and assists regional campuses with the administration of typing and admissions-related tests.
- Orient students to centre procedures and assist them in locating materials.
- Communicates changes in office procedures, scheduling, departmental changes, and other updates as required.
- Responsible for financial tasks related to services rendered within the Centre, including: generating cheque requisitions; requests for billing; and recording fees for external exams.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate coverage and training of reception and invigilation services, as required.

- Other duties as assigned by Director, or designate.
- Recognized one (1) year certificate in Administrative Assistant or Business Administration
- 3 years or more relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proven ability to work positively with a very demanding workload, changing priorities, and continuous interruptions and to coordinate activities with the work of the team.
- Ability to work independently and meet extremely demanding work schedules and deadlines, over which the incumbent has little or no control.
- Proficient in appropriate technological resources including the following computer application areas: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and Web based research.
- Keyboarding skills of 50 WPM.
- Colleague experience preferred.
- PearsonVue Certification preferred.
- Superior interpersonal skills including the ability to contribute positively to a team oriented work environment.
- High degree of sensitivity to both verbal and non-verbal cues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated commitment to service excellence and student-centric approach.
