The Department of Computer Science is part of the College of Arts & Science—the largest and most diverse college at the University of Saskatchewan. Primary Purpose: The Academic Programs & Outreach Coordinator in the Department of Computer Science plays a key role in developing and promoting the department’s undergraduate academic programs and strengthening its engagement with the fast-growing local and national tech sector. This position contributes to experiential learning, stakeholder relations, and outreach initiatives that support the department’s academic and external-facing priorities.

Nature of Work: Reporting directly to the Department Head, this position provides strategic coordination of academic program development and outreach activities. The role operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, requiring a self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and build strong professional relationships with faculty, students, and external partners. The position involves significant interaction with stakeholders in the tech sector, including employers, donors, and industry partners, making it an essential connector between academia and industry.

Accountabilities:

Program Coordination & Experiential Learning:

  • Administer and coordinate the Computer Science Professional Internship Program (CSPIP)
  • Maintain positive relationships with external partners and coordinate site visits and placement satisfaction monitoring
  • Deliver and manage experiential learning content, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand experiential learning locally, nationally, and internationally
  • Promote job opportunities and support students through career-related inquiries and guidance
  • Oversee data management and generate reports on experiential learning outcomes
  • Research and track best practices and sector trends to inform program development

Outreach, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Design and execute stakeholder engagement initiatives, including outreach to tech employers, alumni, and donors
  • Lead the planning, promotion, and delivery of department events, such as Digitized and recruitment initiatives
  • Develop and manage internal and external communications, including newsletters, digital content, and social media
  • Implement inclusive outreach aligned with College priorities, including the recruitment of Indigenous and underrepresented students in STEM
  • Create promotional materials and digital campaigns to highlight department success stories and research achievements

Education:
An undergraduate degree in a related field such as Education, Business, or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience coordinating programs in the tech sector or post-secondary environment
  • Experience developing and maintaining business relationships
  • Knowledge of tech industry hiring practices and experiential learning models
  • Experience in event planning, outreach, and stakeholder engagement
  • Familiarity with computer science curriculum and USask procedures is an asset

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
  • Proficiency in digital media, social platforms, and content creation
