The Youth Connections Coordinator is responsible for providing outreach services to youth at the Chantal Berube Youth Centre and in the Beaumont community. This includes but is not limited to attending school presentations as well as promoting the CBYC and FCSS Programs with like serving agencies. Reporting to the CBYC Supervisor, the Youth Connections Coordinator acts as a resource and liaison between the community and agency stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to locally driven preventative social initiatives in the City of Beaumont.

What YOU’RE Responsible for:
  • Identify vulnerable/at risk youth in the community and develop strategies to connect with them.
  • Engage, build rapport and strength-based relationships with youth and their support systems in the community.
  • Build skills and support the youth in accessing services, advocate for their needs, engage with their family/community and support them in continuing their education, and/or seeking housing and employment.
  • Plan and implement support groups/workshops/programming around current youth issues in the Beaumont Community as well as at the CBYC.
  • Provide a timely response and intervention to youth experiencing crisis. Work with the youth, their families and other systems to develop strategies to deal with the immediate crisis and continuity of care.
  • Provide information, referrals and support to enhance the strengths, skills and abilities of youth and their families/caregivers.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with local resources, agencies and schools in and around the Beaumont Community.
  • Develop and implement community programs and services in consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders and offer education sessions for youth and caregivers/parents.
  • Promote youth engagement in the community with stakeholders, City Council and Family and Community Support Services.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to build positive relationships with adults in the Beaumont Community and connect them with community programs to participate in.
  • Complete relevant documentation and maintain records, provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance of group/workshop/programming statistics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What YOU Bring:
  • Human Services diploma or degree, Child and Youth Care preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience specializing in high-risk youth.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, specifically related to working with adolescents and families is required.
  • Suicide intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR are required.
  • Clean Intervention Record Check (Child Welfare), Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract are required.
  • Specialized knowledge of adolescent development, mental health and addictions would be an asset.
  • Community development and experience working in a municipal government setting is preferred.
  • Equivalencies may be considered.
