We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time (32 hours/week) Adult, Youth, Child Worker to join our team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of residents in our supportive therapeutic home for youth. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals with varying needs, fostering a positive and nurturing environment, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote growth and success.


Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum two-year diploma, or equivalent education and experience in attachment-based parenting and relationship-based interventions (trauma-informed practice).
  • Experience: Proven experience working with individuals with support needs, including behavioural and attachment challenges.
  • Certifications: First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) (we will train those who require these certifications)
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in strategy development, mediation, counseling, advocacy, community networking, and life skills management.
    • Knowledge of adult and youth care approaches, service plan development, and applicable legislation/regulations.
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Support:
    • Participate in assessments, goal setting, and progress evaluation for assigned individuals.
    • Complete and maintain required documentation, including intake forms, progress reports, and discharge reports.
    • Maintain open, authorized communication with families and professionals involved.
    • Implement and update behaviour support plans in collaboration with the Program Manager.
    • Ensure individuals’ safety, well-being, and physical needs are met, including personal hygiene and medical/dental care.
  • Program Home Maintenance:
    • Maintain the home to health and safety standards.
    • Prepare and provide nutritious meals, accommodating dietary restrictions.
    • Support individuals in completing household chores and life skills development.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Drive and accompany individuals to school, medical appointments, and outings.
    • Attend school meetings, case conferences, and community events.
    • Educate and raise awareness about mental health in the community.
  • Recreational and Educational Activities:
    • Facilitate recreational and educational activities.
    • Assist individuals in achieving success with routines, hygiene, and life skills.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate reports, statistics, and daily activity logs.
    • Manage daily petty cash during shifts.
    • Attend program and staff meetings, as well as supervision and training sessions.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Provide input into program development, house rules, policies, and care plans.
    • Actively participate in team meetings and decisions.
    • Build positive working relationships with individuals, families, and professionals.

Working Conditions

  • This role is based in program homes with an on-site work arrangement.
  • 32 hours/week, Friday-Monday 3pm-11pm
