Vice President Business Development Canadian Alternative Project Delivery

OVERVIEW:

If you’re an experienced business development professional with a mind for sales, Parsons has an opportunity for you! We are seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead and direct pursuits of high profile, Alternative Project Delivery (APD) multimillion-dollar projects for our Canadian market. If selected, you will be responsible for continuing Parsons’ reputation as one of the world’s leading technical and engineering firms.

In this role, you will provide business development leadership and direction for APD projects in our Infrastructure market involving Civil, Transit and Aviation pursuits. The successful candidate understands business negotiations and recognizes and acts upon opportunities to promote the Company's expertise and successful past performance. May travel extensively to cultivate new and ongoing business development endeavors. Typical responsibilities include major client accounts and major proposal/project activities.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Keeps abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate.

  • Understands what the clients (contractors and designers) success rate has been to determine their viability as a teaming partner.

  • Executes long-term business and marketing strategies.

  • Directs a marketing campaign to establish and cultivate long-term relationships with key client officials.

  • Prepositions early on the opportunities well in advance of it coming to market.

  • Seeks opportunities to strengthen client relationships.

  • Aligns with other BD Directors and Operational leaders to appreciate Parsons value proposition for the pursuit and to help drive expansion and growth in those respective Regions

  • Identifies potential clients within area of specialty and develops sales strategy.

  • Understands and responds to potential clients' needs and objectives.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to proposal team from inception to completion.

  • At times engage in the capture manager role for the pursuit.

  • Oversees the development of the pricing structure, as well as other contract terms and conditions.

  • Manages significant proposal efforts.

  • Negotiates contracts, including teaming and design agreements as well as potential joint venture agreements.

  • Acts as sponsor during project execution.

What Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business (or equivalent) and 20+ years of diversified experience, primarily within the business development realm of a large, multinational, critical infrastructure company, is required.

  • A thorough understanding of APD market and various models (DB, Alliance, Progressive), proposal pricing, contract terminology, negotiations with potential clients, and the Company's policies and business objectives, is required.

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.

  • Exceptional ability to represent the Company favorably, to develop new clients, and to negotiate with key members of other firms, is also required.
