Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week – evenings and weekend availability

The Upstander Education Coordinator is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of YWCA Regina’s Upstander programming, a gender-based violence prevention initiative designed to engage men, boys, and community members through transformative, strengths-based education. Rooted in trauma-informed practice, community accountability, and gender equity, the program fosters empathy, challenges harmful norms, and builds the skills and confidence necessary to be an Upstander—someone who safely intervenes in situations of harm.
This role oversees the delivery and development of Upstander, Upstander in School, and GirlSpace—a confidence- and self-esteem-building program for middle-years students. Programming is delivered in-person, virtually, and through a learning management system (LMS), across Regina and rural communities.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Community Programs, the Coordinator is responsible for ensuring program quality and consistency, supervising facilitators and volunteers, and building strong community relationships to support gender-based violence prevention across the province.
Responsibilities:
Program Facilitation & Delivery
- Coordinate, deliver, and evaluate Upstander workshops and presentations for schools, community organizations, sports teams, and other groups.
- Adapt content to meet the needs of specific audiences, particularly youth and male-identifying participants.
- Engage participants in meaningful discussions about masculinity, consent, empathy, and bystander intervention.
Program Development & Oversight
- Design and update workshop materials, activities, and tools aligned with the Upstander Logic Model and trauma-informed best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, feedback, and impact to support program evaluation.
- Track and report on short- and medium-term outcomes, including shifts in knowledge, attitudes, and participant confidence.
Partnership Building & Outreach
- Strengthen and maintain partnerships with schools, Indigenous communities, newcomer organizations, and local agencies.
- Promote the Upstander program through community engagement, presentations, and digital outreach.
Volunteer and Facilitator Coordination
- Recruit, train, and supervise contract facilitators and volunteer presenters.
- Ensure facilitators are well-supported and align with program values and goals.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Oversee program logistics including scheduling, registration, invoicing, purchasing, and budget tracking.
- Administer certificates of completion and maintain a clear system for participant data.
- Submit timely reports and updates to the Director of Community Programs.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in gender studies, education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth, especially men and boys, in educational or facilitative roles.
- Strong understanding of gender-based violence prevention, trauma-informed practice, and equity frameworks.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with a strong sense of initiative.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to rural communities across Southern Saskatchewan
Assets:
- Lived experience or direct knowledge of issues affecting Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+, racialized, or newcomer communities.
- Experience delivering culturally responsive programming or working in partnership with Indigenous organizations.
- Familiarity with community accountability frameworks and bystander intervention models.
