JOB SUMMARY
The Tree Preservation Administrator is responsible for the administration of the Tree Preservation By-law including but not limited to: responding to inquiries from the public regarding private tree matters, receiving and reviewing all Tree Permit cash in lieu payments and conditional requirements. This position also coordinates with the Tree Preservation Technicians on outstanding Tree Permits and By-law Orders issued for tree conditions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to Tree Permit and Order recipients regarding outstanding cash in lieu and tree planting conditions.
- Update tree conditions on excel sheet.
- Assisting with the preparation of Tree Permits and Tree Permit denial letters.
- Processing cash in lieu payments and sending receipts to residents.
- Organizing, filing, and scanning paper documents.
- Updating, responding and closing Tree files in AMANDA.
- Coordinate with the Tree Preservation Technicians to schedule tree planting inspections.
- Update weekly, monthly, and yearly Tree Preservation stats.
- Issuing invoices for tax roll collection of outstanding Tree Permits/Orders.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- University degree or Community College diploma in law enforcement, municipal by-law certificate, or investigative studies discipline is required. Please submit a copy of your accreditation(s) with your application to the position.
- Three to five year’s related work experience in administrative positions
- Working knowledge and competencies with Provincial Offences Act, Internal – External stakeholders within the City of Markham
- Proficient in use of Microsoft applications (including Excel), Adobe
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and communications skills, both verbal and written
- Experience in analyzing and prioritizing workload, analysis of charts – graphs and revenue related reporting
- Ability to maintain, protect and work with confidential information.
- Multi-language an asset
