ABOUT THE ROLE
The in-house Talent Development Coach provides 1:1 coaching services to the Region’s people leaders ready for advancement through the Region’s succession plan, and those referred to or self-referred to coaching for development purposes. The Coach supports the development of Leadership Development Plans for the enhancement of leadership capabilities, strengthening performance, supporting career development, and fostering the development of mental fitness and mindfulness. The Coach works closely with individuals and teams to develop tailored coaching plans, facilitates workshops, and promotes a culture of psychological safety, continuous improvement and progressive leadership practices aligned with the Region’s core values and leadership competencies.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Provides one-on-one coaching to leaders to develop and/or improve leadership skills, strategic thinking, decision-making capabilities, conflict management skills, self-awareness, resiliency, and confidence.
- Supports leaders at all levels in developing robust and meaningful Leadership Development Plans to promote their ongoing growth and development, and to improve their readiness and ability to take on roles of increasing responsibility.
- Supports the retention and attraction of top talent to critical leadership positions at all levels at the Region.
- Coaches using a non-directive and insightful approach to help leaders get ‘unstuck’ and move to a place of action.
- Addresses a wide variety of topics with clients in a safe and confidential space focused on their unique needs.
- Acts as an astute thinking partner and confidential sounding board to help leaders achieve heightened levels of performance and clarity.
- Relies on modern coaching practices, intuitive observations, and profound questions to help leaders achieve their goals while experiencing heightened levels of self-awareness and personal resiliency.
- Assists leaders in identifying and clarifying performance goals, overcoming challenges, and implementing effective solutions.
- Supports leaders in discovering and unlocking their personal and professional goals and potential.
- Utilizes the International Coaching Federation (ICF) core coaching competencies including active listening, reflection, curiosity, and by acting as a fully present thinking partner.
- Exercises influence to encourage leaders to look within and challenges leaders in the service of them and their teams.
- Facilitates team coaching sessions to improve communication, collaboration, overall team performance and to reduce team dysfunction, conflict, and tension.
- Develops, designs, and delivers coaching programs and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives, and the Region’s talent management strategy.
- Conducts assessments, including the development and implementation of Narrative 360s to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and provides supportive and constructive feedback.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by staying current with coaching best practices and incorporating them into coaching activities.
- Supports the development and enhancement of the Region’s talent management strategies and succession planning initiatives.
- Collaborates with People, Equity and Culture (PEC) leadership team and HR Business Partners to support leadership development.
- Provides input or prepares reports, briefing notes, presentations, summary insights, as requested.
- Promotes the code of conduct, Regional values and PEC policies with all staff of the section.
- Liaises, fosters, and maintains positive relationships with internal staff and external contacts.
- Provides consultation, advice, facilitation and support to senior leaders and Regional departments, as requested.
- Upholds the ICF Code of Ethics including the strict safeguarding of confidentiality for all coaching conversations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree or an approved equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Certified Executive Coach (CEC) accredited with the International Coaching Federation (PCC or MCC preferred).
- Minimum of three (3) years practical experience one on one coaching of senior people leaders and teams.
- Minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience within a discipline, working with and influencing senior leaders, including minimum of three (3) years experience leading teams in complex environments, preferably within public sector settings.
- Demonstrated facilitation skills and ability to successfully promote and influence the adoption of new concepts and ideas.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a range of stakeholders while focusing on fostering collaborative work relationships.
- Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills with a service mindset.
- Strong ability to develop relationships and work in welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite including virtual platforms for conducting meetings and/or presentations.
- Ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
