The Winkler Flyers are seeking a driven, team-oriented, and development-minded individual to join our organization as an Assistant Coach. This is a full-time leadership role within our hockey operations staff, designed for a coach who is passionate about building relationships, developing players, and contributing to a culture of professionalism, competitiveness, and maximizing potential.

Key Responsibilities
- Regular full-time presence with the GM. Times to be determined by the GM.
- Work directly with the GM in scouting and recruiting Jr. A and B players in Manitoba, American Leagues as well as U15 and U18 leagues.
- Attend development camps as assigned by the GM to scout, secure players and promote the Winkler Flyers Jr. A Hockey Team.
- Contribute to building a strong recruiting pipeline in line with the program’s identity and values.
- Assist with team promotion by appearances in minor hockey practices/breakfast club programs for regional area teams as assigned.
- The Assistant Coach will assist the GM and Equipment Manager in the management of inventory of all equipment required for the operation of the hockey Club, within the guidelines of the annual budget.
- Direct/Coordinate on and off-ice activities during games and practices and other training such as fitness and teambuilding under the direction of the GM.
- Be an ambassador for the organization within Winkler and the surrounding community. Must be willing to assist with team outreach and public relations appearances and activities.
- Enforce rules of conduct for the hockey club and maintain player discipline on and off the ice.
- Study video and conduct regular team meetings at the direction of the Head Coach.
- Assist in development of individual and team athletic skills and systems and foster personal growth and development of all team members.
- Assist in the promotion of Flyer Players in obtaining scholarships, and/or positions with post junior hockey clubs at the direction of the GM.
- Assist the Head Coach with the management and coordination of Flyers Hockey Development, which includes the High-Performance Hockey School, and any potential additional Skill Development. This includes aiding in planning, marketing, organizing, registration, program development, and operation.
- Ensure that goals and assists are credited to the right players following each game (a form is provided by the league to send in)
- Actively participate in the successful execution of all Winkler Flyer camps (spring development, main etc.) as well as the annual hockey school and/or other fundraisers and community events.
- Provide support and oversight to the game day manager. This is to include establishing and managing objectives, volunteers and personnel duties.
- Perform additional duties as directed by GM.
