Job Description:
The successful candidate will provide assessment and treatment of swallowing and communication disorders for adult patients with a with a variety of diagnoses in an adult level 3 and level 2 medical surgical intensive care units. Collaboration with other health care professionals providing patient and family centered care in a team setting is an integral part of this position. The SLP will provide coverage on more than one critical care unit.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Licensed with the College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
- Previous experience with assessment and management of swallowing disorders, including video- fluoroscopic assessment for dysphagia.
- Previous experience with assessment and treatment of patients with neurological deficits.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, including clinical education with students and/ or mentorship of Initial Practice Registrants.
- Strong case management skills and demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
- Superior interpersonal communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Interest in potential professional and career development opportunities.
- Satisfactory attendance and performance record required.
