Foremost Universal has an immediate opening for a Semi-Truck Driver (Class 1) located at our north facility in Lloydminster, AB. This position has the responsibility for the delivery of products over established routes. Responsibilities will include the correctly placing and securing loads, recording of delivery information and ensuring overall vehicle safety. The successful applicant will be expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Confidently haul over dimensional loads and working with pilot drivers to ensure the safety of the public, yourselves and the load you are transporting
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road and drive according to the weather/road conditions
- Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations
- Act as a liaison between customers, operators and operations communicating instructions, permits and all other applicable information
- Track and schedule jobs for equipment, operators and crews for pick-up and delivery
- Assist in coordinating and ordering permits, escorts and utilities as required by government regulations
- Process transport requests
- Use Axon, Fleet Complete, Full Bay and other IT programs we utilize on a daily basis
- Search for loads to match any empty equipment
- Ensure all equipment and personnel travel through US/Canada border properly
- Inspect equipment for mechanical issues and safety concerns and perform preventative maintenance
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- Responsible for paying any traffic violations/tickets that may you receive
- Responsible to scheduling maintenance as required
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of all applicable regulations governing transportation across various districts, provinces, states and border crossings
- Effective two-way communication skills for communicating all relevant information efficiently and effectively
- A minimum of three years’ experience
- Clean Driver's abstract with a clear criminal background check
- Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TGD) certification
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
- High level of personal integrity and dependable
- Be an effective mentor and team player
- Class 1 Driver’s License required
