The Centre for Youth Bipolar Disorder (CYBD) is a clinical research program focused on youth bipolar disorder. CYBD activities include intervention studies, observational studies, biological studies, and knowledge translation relevant to youth bipolar disorder. The focus population is youth who have bipolar disorder or who have a first degree relative with bipolar disorder.

CYBD is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Coordinator. The incumbent will report to the Research Manager and join a clinical research team working on a number of research studies examining bipolar disorder. In this position, you will be responsible for working both autonomously and in a team of research staff to achieve study targets.

The Research Coordinator will assist with a number of research responsibilities including becoming proficient and adherent in applying DBT specifically for youth with bipolar disorder (lead individual DBT sessions and family skills sessions), participating in weekly DBT peer supervision and DBT consultation team, delivering psychosocial treatments to youth with bipolar disorder and their families within the context of clinical trials, conducting reliable diagnostic interviews with youth with bipolar disorder and their families including Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children, Present and Life Version (KSADS-PL) and Adolescent Longitudinal Interval Follow-up Evaluation (ALIFE) and administering validated questionnaires.

Other research tasks include: assisting with multiple projects/studies with guidance from the Principal Investigator, assisting in the preparation and submission of research applications to granting agencies, preparing research ethics board applications and maintaining study compliance with all terms, coordinating the collection, delivery, entry, verification, management, analysis, and reporting of data via REDCap, taking physical measurements including height, weight, abdominal circumference, and blood pressure, maintaining easily accessible records of subject contact, subject recruitment, subject tracking, subject interviews, the return of self-reports, and issuance of subject payments, interfacing effectively with research and clinical staff to maintain efficient communication about the consistency and quality of all study procedures and clinical issues and attending and participating in all project-related meetings, including regular staff meetings and research team meetings and performing other duties as assigned. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 80 Workman Way. Some evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Clinical research experience providing assessment services to youth and their families in mental health is required, as is experience with manualized skills oriented therapy. Training and experience in crisis intervention is required. Prior training and experience delivering dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) preferred. Candidates require the ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
