StepStones for Youth (www.stepstonesforyouth.com) is an innovative and dynamic charitable organization in Toronto dedicated to providing intervention and sustainable support for children and youth. Many of these youth are exiting the foster care and group home system or are currently living in foster homes and shelters.

The Opportunity
StepStones for Youth is seeking a full-time creative professional with a passion for strategic communications and storytelling. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of our communication strategies, elevating our mission, programs, and the voices of the youth we serve. This individual will be responsible for content creation, public engagement, campaign execution, and internal communication processes. This is a highly collaborative role working across departments including fundraising, programs, and leadership.
We’re looking for a versatile professional who combines creativity and technical skill — someone who can write compelling content, create digital media, analyze data, and manage branding across multiple platforms.
What you will be responsible for:
- Develop and maintain a master communications calendar for social, email, web, print, PR and other content types as needed.
- Develop strong written and visual content that is strategically aligned with organizational priorities, responsive to current needs, and tailored to engage target audiences across platforms.
- Create and execute digital campaigns for fundraising, peer-to-peer, awareness, and volunteer engagement (Utilize paid promotion, SEO, various content channels, etc.)
- Attend events weekly in the evening and occasionally on weekends (e.g., youth dinners, youth workshops) to capture high-quality photos and video content.
- Write and distribute press releases/media stories and build relationships with media contacts.
- Conduct website reviews and deep audits to ensure all content is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
- Collaborate with team to create and update content for fundraising initiatives and events
- Manage email segmentation and CRM records for targeted messaging and documentation of communications.
- Create reports for campaigns, newsletters, website and social media, presenting findings to the leadership team.
- Write and maintain key external documents and maintain the content library with proper tagging and consent verification.
- Support communications-related software and tools (Constant Contact, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
- Ensure up-to-date branding and messaging across all platforms and maintain online reputation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate innovative storytelling techniques to enhance our communication efforts.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in communications, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Strong proficiency in photography, videography, and graphic design.
- Strong professional writing skills are an asset, particularly for drafting clear, compelling communications and reports
- Experience planning and executing online fundraising campaigns is an asset, including strategy development, content creation, and performance tracking.
- Direct experience working with donors and CFRE is an asset
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent design tools.
- Familiarity with website CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Search Console), and email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with youth, staff, and external stakeholders.
- High degree of professionalism, creativity, and initiative.
- Excellent project coordination, organizational, and time management skills; accountability, reliability and punctuality; and the ability to work effectively and independently under the pressure of tight timelines, competing priorities and emergent issues.
