The Program Coordinator, Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) plays a major role in implementing the department’s strategic plan. Working in a multi-tasking, team environment, this position coordinates, facilitates and supports the development and delivery of workshops, programs, and professional development experiences for local and national customers and clients. The Program Coordinator needs to be an independent self-starter who is able to help administer workshops and programs and interact with the various internal and external stakeholders at RRU. Additionally, the Program Coordinator tracks and documents complex reports and transactions for clients whose program needs extend over a lengthy period of time. The Program Coordinator may also arrange activities and events, and provide foundational support for designated programs, as needed.
The Program Coordinator works within PCS to provide administrative leadership, ensuring that planned programs and activities are effectively managed to support the achievement of University goals. This position requires a flexible individual with exceptional written and oral communication skills, capable of working with a variety of stakeholders to serve department needs. To be well suited for this position you must have excellent organizational abilities, exceptional customer service skills, strong project management skills and knowledge, and be technically proficient. Event planning experience is an asset.
- An undergraduate degree or other relevant educational credential (college certificate or diploma) plus 3-5 years of related experience in the administration of academic programs (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including editing skills; this includes both formal and informal presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
- Knowledge and understanding of the University’s requirements, methods, culture and processes, as well as knowledge or experience in continuing education and adult learning principles
- Demonstrated financial coordination and contract administration skills and experience; accounting skills are an asset
- Office management skills and experience, including developing, implementing and monitoring policy and procedures
- Ability to work flexible hours on a pre-planned basis, including possible evening and weekend hours. Ability to travel as required by program.
- Strong interpersonal development and leadership capabilities including networking and advocacy skills
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and team building skills; ability to act with tact and diplomacy under pressure
- Proficient technical background with computer abilities such as Microsoft Office suite of programs as well as other RRU systems (e.g., Agresso, Share point)
- Solid analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Experience of working with social media and web-site design and management would be an asset
- Proficiency in a language other than English preferable
