Production Manager (Industrial Facility) - Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role
We are looking for a Production Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of a petroleum asphalt terminal. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, maintenance, quality control, and safety at the facility, ensuring that operational goals are met while maintaining high standards for employee training, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
The Production Manager will supervise a team of plant staff, coordinate transportation of raw materials and finished products, manage budgets and purchasing, and implement preventative maintenance programs. This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is committed to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the production facility, ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Oversee quality control processes and coordinate with the QA team to meet customer specifications.
- Conduct daily production meetings, assign employee work schedules, and manage housekeeping standards across the facility.
- Ensure plant operations comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee transportation logistics, including the loading of trucks and movement of raw materials and finished products.
- Develop and monitor procedures to optimize plant efficiency while controlling costs.
- Maintain preventive maintenance plans, manage critical spares, and minimize inventory costs.
- Audit production, maintenance, and shipping processes to ensure best practices.
- Collaborate with senior operations management to prepare annual budgets and production plans.
Human Resources & Leadership:
- Train, mentor, and supervise plant staff.
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and enforce company HS&E policies.
- Deliver health and safety training to all employees and ensure compliance.
- Manage staffing levels and conduct annual performance reviews.
Qualifications
- Technical degree or diploma in a relevant field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process environment (asphalt or petroleum manufacturing experience preferred).
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented with experience handling client needs and product quality expectations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Project); JD Edwards (JDE) experience is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
