Position Overview
The Preschool Program Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of Future 4 Nations preschool program, ensuring it aligns with Aboriginal Head Start’s principles and guidelines. You will work closely with staff, families, and community partners to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive and connect with their cultural heritage. The Program Coordinator will ensure the six components of Aboriginal Head Start: Culture and Language, Education and School Readiness, Health Promotion, Nutrition, Parent and Family Involvement, and Social Support are rooted in all programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate culturally relevant early childhood education programs.
- Supervise and support preschool staff to maintain high-quality care and education.
- Build strong relationships with children, families, Elders, and the community to foster engagement and collaboration.
- Incorporate Indigenous culture, traditions, and languages into the curriculum and activities.
- Ensure compliance with Aboriginal Head Start standards and provincial licensing regulations.
- Manage program budgets, reporting, and administrative tasks.
- Act as a liaison with community partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Aboriginal Head Start programs or similar initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and languages.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience in program coordination, early childhood education, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and with diverse families.
