Job Description:
Reports to Manager Aspire AC, AC Hub, and Student Support Services Welcome Centre. Provides mentorship and guidance to students at various levels at the College.
KEY DUTIES:
- The student will provide excellent customer and technical service assistance to faculty, students and staff.
- Matched to up to 30 level one incoming students each semester. Provides these students with wayfinding (virtual or in person). Responds to questions these students may have as they transition to and begin their journey at Algonquin College
- Provides support at The AC Hub information desks across campus
- Provides support at the Here2Help booths across campus during the first two weeks of each semester
- Provides campus tours to Students, parents and influencers of incoming students
- Directs students to services and supports across campus in order to integrate into the college and classroom
- Completes first level orientation to students of the Brightspace platform
- Inputs data for statistical reports on services and supports provided to incoming students
- Answer student inquiries about the college experience, and student engagement opportunities
- Timely & relevant referrals to internal resources. Provides warm handovers to these services particularly Counseling and Centre for accessible learning
- Regular communication & updates to students matched in the Navigator program
- Collaborate with other college departments on behalf of the student to resolve various challenges
- Represents the student Navigator program at Open Houses and other college wide events
- May provide support to all operations and maintenance areas that can only be performed by students.
- Assist staff with completion of routine duties in accordance with the CA.
- Follow all College safety protocol while working on College property.
- Perform all other duties as assigned in accordance with the CA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Secondary School (Grade 12) diploma;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete projects with minimal direction;
- Must be self-motivated, and self-directed;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Successfully able to multi-task and possess a high attention to detail:
- Proficient communication skills (oral and written);
- A proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgement pertaining to access to private and secure information;
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
