Parking Enforcement Officers are contracted by the City of Edmonton and are responsible for enforcing parking regulations on city streets. Violations include expired parking permits, no parking zones, tow-away zones, and other non-moving vehicle violations. The authority to enforce parking regulations is granted to officers after satisfactory completion of training and the appointment under the city of Edmonton bylaw.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license for a minimum 2 years and clean driver’s abstract (less than 3 demerits) Abstract must be submitted during the screening process.
- Demonstrate competency in English to the extent of reading and understanding written regulations, orders, and instructions, and be able to compose legible reports.
- Possess high observation skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to make quick decisions in emergency response situations with minimal supervision.
- Physically able to walk up to 30+ kilometers per day or drive for up to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to draft comprehensive reports and maintain proper records with legible handwriting.
- Ability to handle confidential information with a high amount of discretion.
- Must be able to obtain a clear CRC for the Vulnerable Sector.
- Take pride in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts (evenings/weekends/days).
- Must be 18 years of age.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus one of the following:
- 2 years post-secondary, preferably in a related field or,
- 1 year previous enforcement experience (including security experience) or,
- 3 years of supervisory/management experience where customer service and conflict resolution were key functions or,
- 5 years of customer service experience where conflict resolution was a key function.
Shifts: Days, Evenings & Weekends
0930-1830 -7 days a week, Plus Special Events Shifts in the evenings
Starting Wage: $20.00/hour, after successful "Swear-In" $21.00/hour. Further increases are based on tenure and performance.
