Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. This position involves assisting with various tasks related to patient interactions, office operations, and optical services, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
- Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
- Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing necessary equipment and instruments.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) accurately, ensuring all patient information is up-to-date.
- Provide information about eyewear options, including frames and lenses, while promoting optical products.
- Handle retail sales transactions efficiently, including processing payments and managing inventory.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and maintenance.
- Schedule appointments and follow up with patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area to enhance the overall patient experience.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office or optometry setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, particularly Epic, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to optometry.
- Experience in sales or retail sales, especially in an optical environment, is a plus.
- Ability to provide excellent patient care with a focus on customer service.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is beneficial but not required.
- Proficiency in front desk operations and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
