The School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) is looking for a self-motivated individual with a great attitude to provide administrative support for the school’s leadership and program staff. As the successful candidate, you will be confident in working independently and interacting with staff, students, and other stakeholders. You will exercise good judgment, have the ability to adapt to change, and be skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Strong time-management skills and an aptitude for flexibility and life-long learning will be necessary, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicates and participates as a team with school and program leadership, other Operations Assistants, Program Assistants, the Dean’s Office Assistant, and SHLS staff to ensure high-quality and consistent processes across the programs and business functions within the school.
- Coordinates and organizes school and program leadership commitments with calendar and meeting invites
- Plans and organizes school and program events
- Provides administrative support for standing school and program meetings as required
- Works with the Associate Deans to support accurate workload reporting
- Supports onboarding and offboarding for temporary and casual course assignments/appointments by coordinating the required documentation with the Associate Deans and school leadership.
- Coordinates contract service requests for staff and vendors
- Manages instructor contact lists for all casual and temporary staff to track course appointments/assignments
- Collaborates with other SHLS staff to identify and engage in continuous improvement initiatives for administrative opportunities to enhance all facets of the student experience, which may include strategic enrolment management, waitlists, course, and section management
- Other duties as assigned

- Effective Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrate the ability to analyze and solve complex challenges.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Business, Office Administration, or other related disciplines.
- Experience in an administrative role
- Experience with PeopleSoft would be an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered..
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $48,257.04- $62,451.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Administrative Support V).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
