Description

The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is a senior supervisory role, consistently striving towards a healthy work environment for employees, volunteers, contractors, and visitors of the Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. This role will demonstrate leadership through HS program development and by providing direction and guidance at Sunshine’s work sites. The OHS Specialist reports to the Vice-President, Legal and Compliance, and liaises frequently with all Resort departments, suppliers, and contracted personnel.

Job Functions

The primary function of this role is to review, develop, and implement standard health and safety training and programming designed to mitigate common risks inherent to a large ski resort operation. The OHS Specialist will also work alongside Managers and Supervisor to collaboratively develop and augment department-specific training.

Performing period HS inspections and audits of physical sites, worker responsibilities and job functions, and additional aspects of the work environment, with an eye to continuous improvement.

Taking a leading role in incident reporting and follow-up investigations, along with participating in additional reviews and making recommendations.

Providing an administration and oversight function of the SSV Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Maintaining current knowledge of OHS standards and best practices, aligning with the Resort’s philosophy of focusing on safety, fun, and professional guest service.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
