JOB SUMMARY
The Occupancy Housing Case Worker provides support to the Community Housing program, including working with Generational Homes during emergency situations. The role focuses on assisting occupants in maintaining housing stability by addressing issues related to mental health, substance use, physical health, and life skills. A key component of the position is building strong, respectful relationships with occupants and collaborating with them to achieve their personal goals. This position requires a high degree of public contact, responsibility, and commitment to community service. The Case Worker is expected to engage with occupants in a professional and supportive manner, ensuring program compliance, providing advocacy, and connecting individuals to appropriate resources and services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Case Management and Support – conduct home visits and follow-up calls to collect updates and ensure program compliance. Complete intakes and document casework meetings, goal plans, safety plans, and critical incidents. Provide mediation and advocacy on behalf of Public Works to support occupants in obtaining and maintaining housing. Provide information and referral assistance to connect occupants with appropriate social service agencies and community programs. Educate occupants on their rights and responsibilities under Occupant Agreements.
- Compliance and Documentation – maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, daily logs, progress reports, and occupant files. Maintain complete working files with documentation of activities and copies of all related correspondence. Prepare compliance reporting, including internal records, reports, lists, and internal/external correspondence. Maintain accurate records of transitional and emergency housing lists. Ensure compliance with Occupant Agreements, housing policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Representation and Professional Standards – represent Tsuut’ina Nation in a professional manner and uphold its Mission in all interactions. Uphold confidentiality and carry out responsibilities in a professional, effective, and efficient manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Desired Education, Knowledge and Experience:
o High School Diploma or GED (CAEC) required.
o Post-secondary education in Social Work or a field is an asset.
o Standard First Aid with Level C CPR certification required.
o Non-violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
o Knowledge of the needs, challenges, and services for the homeless population.
o Experience providing support to individuals facing barriers related to maintaining housing.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is an asset.

- General Employment Requirements:
