Position Summary
The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in meat processing, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves hands-on participation in production activities, supervision of team members, and coordination of workflow across multiple processing stages including preparation, cooking, and packaging.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Duties
- Unbagging & Preparation – Safely open and handle raw meat products, inspect for quality, and stage for processing.
- Spice Mixing – Accurately measure, weigh, and blend seasonings according to recipes and production requirements.
- Grinding – Operate and monitor grinders, ensuring proper texture, consistency, and equipment safety.
- Stuffing & Hanging – Oversee sausage stuffing, linking, and hanging for smoking or drying.
- Smoking – Set up and monitor smokehouse programs, ensuring correct temperature, humidity, and cook cycles.
- Cutting & Slicing – Operate slicing equipment or hand-cut products to specified thickness and portion sizes.
- Packaging – Supervise vacuum sealing, labeling, and date coding for accuracy and compliance.
- Packing & Staging – Ensure finished goods are properly boxed, palletized, and staged for storage or shipment.
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities to meet schedules and output targets.
- Train and coach production staff in safe food handling, sanitation, and equipment operation.
- Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Enforce workplace safety, hygiene, and CFIA/compliance standards.
- Act as point of contact between production staff and management.
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or related production environment.
- Strong knowledge of meat handling, grinding, smoking, and packaging processes.
- Supervisory or lead hand experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold environments.
- Familiarity with HACCP, food safety, and sanitation requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 33 – 40 per week
