What will you do?
The Manager, Information Technology (IT) is a key management role responsible for effective planning, organization, and operation of IT services and support across the organization. The position oversees IT project coordination, service and resource management, and communication with business unit leaders and end users, as well as being responsible for IT strategic and tactical planning, and identifying, selecting, and deploying the appropriate technology resources that will support corporate goals and objectives with a focus on IT governance and best practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee project management for IT-related undertakings, including clear capture of business requirements, provision of functional deliverables, milestone planning, and project postmortems.
- Maintain technology operations to include systems administration, network management, telecommunications management, system and data security, system data backup and emergency recovery plans.
- Research, design, and implement the appropriate technologies to support and improve corporate communications, access to information, and end-user productivity.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, providing leadership and mentorship of the team.
- Direct operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency and identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems.
- Analyze complex business needs presented by the organization and recommend technical solutions.
- Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards and procedures for implementing technical solutions.
- Ensure software, hardware and network installations, re-installs, upgrades, moves, changes, and relocations are made when necessary and as required.
- Conduct capacity planning for network bandwidth, storage requirements, messaging, web sites, and other applications.
- Provide leadership in identifying hardware and software needs and purchases.
- Assist in developing and managing a budget for technology, IT services, and personnel.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition of technology purchases; oversee warranties and service agreements.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of IT-related policies, procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Design and oversee IT-related training programs for staff, ensuring user support functions are effective, and managing changes related to IT implementations, such as communication, training, and adoption.
- Conduct regular system audits and report these audits to the Senior Leadership Team on a quarterly basis.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the IT department.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives, risk assessments, and develop an incident response plan.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in computer science, information technology, business administration or a related field is considered an asset.
- 4 to 7 years’ experience in an IT operations function is required, with a minimum of two years’ experience overseeing IT teams and initiatives.
- Experience with cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, as well as emerging technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
- Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and specifications.
- Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of current technology environments including telecommunications, networks, database administration, programming, media, and desktops.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage programs and projects.
- Understanding and demonstration of client-centered support and services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of grammar, punctuation, structure, spelling, tone, proofreading, clarity, and organization.
