What we are looking for:
Under the supervision of the Global Head, Total Portfolio Solutions, the successful candidate will join an innovative team and will add value for our clients by their expertise in quantitative analysis. The analyst will participate in the development and implementation of customized and innovative multi asset class solutions. They will significantly contribute to the development of the team’s quantitative and technological architecture with their programming skills, participate in research activities and concretize new ideas. Participate to solving real investor challenges through customized portfolio construction using products on the Fiera investment platform and where needed analyzing other investments.
The schedule of this internship could be flexible to accommodate academic commitments, allowing part-time work when needed.
This internship may be renewed 2 times throughout the year. If successful at the end of the full 12-month period, the intern will be strongly considered for a full-time Analyst position on the team.
Your responsibilities:
  • Build proposed multi-asset portfolios combining traditional and non-traditional, private and public investment strategies;
  • Create various mathematical models for use in simulation techniques and forecasting;
  • Maintain and update internal databases to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility for the team;
  • Provide programming expertise in a practical asset/liability portfolio management context incorporating traditional and alternative investment strategies;
  • Conduct research on investment strategies, market trends and total portfolio solutions;
  • Participate in portfolio management activities and day-to-day risk management.
Must have requirements to be successful in this role:
  • Currently enrolled in a master’s degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Financial Mathematics or Financial Engineering;
  • Enrollment or completion of CFA Designation, CAIA or Actuarial Designation is considered an asset;
  • Prior experience in a position related to investment, portfolio construction, performance analysis or risk analysis;
  • Great attention to detail, methodical approach to solving problems;
  • Great understanding of quantitative methods, great programming skills (VBA, SQL, PYTHON – Object Oriented Programming) and experience in organizing data;
  • Presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) ideally both in French and English;
  • Interest in modeling traditional and non-traditional, private and public investment strategies;
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team;
  • Acute interest for financial risk management and financial markets.
For all positions in Quebec (Montreal and Laval), proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Working English proficiency is also required in order to serve our offices and clients around the world.
