IT Infrastructure Intern
Type: Co-op/Intern Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid) Hours: Flexible
We are seeking a motivated IT Infrastructure Intern, ideally a 3rd- or 4th-year co-op student or recent graduate in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology with an interest in network and server setup and operations. This role offers hands-on experience configuring and maintaining enterprise infrastructure alongside an experienced team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls) and servers.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues to support end users.
- Deploy and test operating system images, patches, and updates.
- Develop and update documentation for infrastructure processes, network diagrams, and user guides.
- Contribute to projects focused on performance tuning, security enhancements, and reliability improvements.
- Research emerging infrastructure technologies and recommend best practices.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Familiar with Linux Server, Linux distributions, and basic network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
- Experience with scripting or programming (Python, PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
