Title: HSE Specialist
Location: Calgary Alberta
Pay rate: $40/hr- $43/hr on T4 with holidays and vacations benefit
Duration: 2-9 months
Work Schedule + Time Zone: 8am to 5pm
Summary:
Provide effective Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidance and recommendations to Operations in fixed facility operations environment. To oversee novel testing environment with proprietary chemical for carbon capture. Must have proven experience and competencies in HSE and Industrial Hygiene.
Provide HSE support for ICS fixed facility location within Calgary, Alberta for temporary assignment during novel testing period.
Independent HSE support to the on-site team. Participate in the daily protocols to observe and confirm all agreed safety protocols are followed as intended.
Support pre-start up safety review, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the Carbon Capture Loop, process filling with MEA, sampling and testing to confirm % MEA before proceeding with the core Test Plan as defined by Engineering R&T team
As HSE observations are made, provide support and independent review to the causes, effects and corrective measures determined by the on-site team.
Provide the appropriate approvals to enable updated SOPs & protocols as required.
Ensure the accountable technical leader, the venture leader and the CTS HSE director are informed of all events by the on-site team as per the protocols.
Manage changes within the novel test environment safely and support the team to ensure safety protocols and bring process back to conformance.
Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of an interdependent HSE culture.
Ensures compliance with local HSE regulations for local jurisdiction.
Ensures compliance with Internal BH HSE requirements and work with local leadership to ensure practical measures are in place within the workplace to control or reduce risk.
Maintain of risk assessments and local procedures to manage and reduce risk based on contractual, BHI, regulatory and/or client requirements.
Ensure the reports, investigations and closure of incidents in a timely manner.
Effectively presents information and responds to questions or concerns from employees, managers, clients, regulatory agencies and the general public.
Required
Strong communication skills
Previous HSE within laboratory experience
Experienced in health hazard evaluation, including Industrial Hygiene
Experienced and competent in HSE guidance and local regulatory requirements
Fluency in English (verbal and written)
Ability to work within Alberta, Canada
HSE certification but a degree is not required
