Reporting to the Senior Manager, Grants & Proposals, this position will make a direct contribution to develop proposals for training funding initiatives from municipal, provincial, federal and international sources as well as research/training opportunities for the for-credit and non-credit Academic portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage/facilitate the internal process of proposal development to a complex variety of funding sources, working with diverse teams across departments within Industry Solutions and Academic schools.
- Editing multiple proposal drafts for grammar, clarity and adherence to funder guidelines.
- Provide feedback on proposal drafts based on the specific area and funder merit indicators.
- Ensuring the proposal is submission ready before seeking internal approvals.
- Develop and maintain a database of funding opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with funders
- Maintain a calendar of submission deadlines and other important milestones
- Maintain accurate records of grant and proposal applications; that includes templates and canned content.
Skills & Abilities:
- Superior writing skills and advanced knowledge of English grammar usage and editorial style guidelines.
- Strong and effective verbal communication skills.
- Good foundation and clear understanding of the funding landscape in Canada
- Analytical skills to interpret data, information and objectives; identify patterns, concerns, issues, problems, needs, tendencies and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; recognize alternatives and their implications.
- Proven experience as a technical writer.
- Strong time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize effectively and to undertake multiple projects (editing and writing) simultaneously.
- Previous experience in project management skills would be an asset.
Qualifications:
- Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., science, business). Graduate degree would be an asset.
- 3-5 years practical experience in writing/editing proposals to various funding agencies. Prior experience in procurement bidding would be an asset.
- Prior experience with training-related funding proposals is an asset.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $76,198.20 - $102,002.42 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Research Officer III).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement
