Job Type: Full-Time (Tues–Sat or Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM)
Compensation: Starting at $67,300 CAD annually
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a Human Resources Advisor to join our small but mighty team. This is your opportunity to make a big impact and grow your full spectrum of HR skills in a non-profit environment that is supportive, engaging, and values-driven.
As a member of our HR team, you’ll work closely with Program Managers and Directors to support our staff and foster a healthy, thriving workplace culture. Your work will ensure that our team has the guidance, tools, and resources they need to succeed in delivering compassionate, person-centered care to our community. Your responsibilities would include:
Providing coaching and guidance to Shift Supervisors, Team Leads, and Program Managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations- Collaborating with the Senior HR Director to create and implement strategies that support staff development, engagement, and retention
- Overseeing the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring
- Supporting performance management processes and providing coaching to leaders
- Advising on policy interpretation, employment legislation, and workplace compliance
- Managing WCB claims and creating modified work plans as needed
- Facilitating return-to-work programs for employees recovering from injury or illness
- Preparing HR documents such as disciplinary letters, employment agreements, and termination paperwork
- Assisting staff with group benefit inquiries and wellness program initiatives
- Overseeing employee investigations and disciplinary meetings
- Preparing and submitting Job Vacancy reports to Statistics Canada
- Maintaining employee files and updating our HRIS (BambooHR)
- Contributing to additional projects and initiatives as assigned
About You
The ideal candidate would have the following:
A degree or diploma in Human Resources or related field- A minimum of 3 years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, labour relations, and WCB claims management
- Experience working with and interpreting Collective Agreements is ideal
- A strong understanding of relevant legislation including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Occupational Health & Safety
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to coach and influence others
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling confidential matters
- Experience with Microsoft Office and HR systems (e.g., BambooHR)
- A commitment to team collaboration and a strong understanding of the services we provide
Position Requirements
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination- Class 5 Driver’s License
- A valid Vulnerable Sector Search (completed within the past six months) with no results material to the position
- FOIP Certification (provided at orientation)
- “It’s Your Move” or equivalent ergonomics training (provided at orientation)
- Flexibility to attend meetings outside of regular hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends)
