We are a race horse training & breeding facility. We specialize in racing bred Quarter Horses. We have 40+ head of horses ranging in age from weanling to senior. We grow and harvest our own hay and our horses compete weekly during the summer season. This is a busy training facility and we will be looking for an experienced horse-person.
Job description
This job opportunity is for permanent employment. Approximately 25-40 hours per week Sunday - Thursday. Each day can vary depending on what is happening at the farm. For example; blacksmith, training, track day etc. One day you may be done in 5 hours, the next day could be 8 hours. We are open to discuss wages based on experience and dedication to jobs required.
Duties will include horse care and handling, (turn in/out, grooming, tacking, bathing) cleaning stalls and barn, paddock maintenance, cleaning buckets & troughs, lifting hay and shavings etc., pulling strings off round bales, mucking out paddock shelters, picking rocks out of horse areas. Additional duties may include: lawn maintenance, weed trimming & minor fence repairs, You will be around dust, mud, odors and animal hair! Horse experience is REQUIRED. The ideal candidate should be self motivated, dependable, take pride in their work, enjoy the outdoors, able to work independently, able to lift 50lbs. And love horses! The ideal applicant should have experience with horses of all ages, especially young stock! Socializing with our weanlings and yearlings is a big part of our program. Race horse experience is a bonus!
