Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will assist in various farming operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of daily tasks on the farm, and inside the greenhouse. This role requires physical stamina, a willingness to learn, and a passion for agriculture.
This is a permanent position and not seasonal
**candidates must be currently unemployed, and permanent residents living in Nova Scotia. Applicants will need to work with a case worker and qualify through the “START” program
Duties
- Perform tasks to prepare for microgreen planting, including washing/sanitizing of trays in a food safe environment
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for various farming tasks such as planting, weeding, livestock and property maintenance (fencing is a large component of this job)
- Help in the garden and greenhouse by planting seeds, maintaining soil health, and managing crop growth.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Keep accurate records of farm activities and crop yields as required.
Qualifications
- Basic math skills for measuring land areas and calculating crop yields.
- General comfort level with livestock and farm operations
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- A strong, reliable team player with good communication skills.
