As Environmental Services Lead you lead the housekeeping and laundry team and assist in cleaning of areas in accordance with Care Home standards and in alignment with our five cultural pillars: Person and Family-Centred Care, Safety as a Priority, Quality and Innovation, A Great Place to Work, and Sustainability. You will work closely with the Support Services Manager in order to:
- Oversees Housekeeping and Laundry Services including team coordination, scheduling, and determining related training and orientation requirements, while working within a setting the prioritize Person and Family-Centred Care
- Performs and/or directs the performance of others to ensure the following: Cleaning all assigned areas with the use of the assigned housekeeping cart and approved cleaning procedures. This includes the cleaning and sanitizing of furniture, tile, fixtures, walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, vents, telephones, equipment, and windows. It also includes dust mopping and wet mopping hard surface floors and vacuuming carpeted floors and furniture
- Requests cleaning supplies, prepares cleaning solutions according to procedures. Requests cleaning equipment as needed and maintains cart and equipment in a clean and organized fashion.
- Maintains records and submits reports for equipment logs, supplies usage, sign in sheets, etc
- Monitors team safety and ensures team is trained and prepared for dementia-associated responses and interactions with Residents (due to close proximity in living areas including bedrooms)
How you will know you are successful as Environmental Services Lead?
Key indicators of performance include but are not limited to:
- Strong satisfaction survey results related to the cleanliness of the care home from Residents and Care Team (including Students);
- Effective cleaning supplies inventory management;
- Effective scheduling and resourcing of Team;
- Achievement of exemplary standing with Accreditation Canada (or equivalent); and
- Ongoing monitoring of improvements (QIPs).
As the ideal candidate, you are aligned with our values and have effective communication skills. In addition, your interests, skills and education include:
- Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory position or equivalent preferred
- Sound and demonstrated knowledge of infection control procedures required
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in the English language
- Ability to deal with others effectively, work with a team, work with frequent interruptions and follow through completely with all tasks and responsibilities in a flexible resident focused environment. Effectively problem solve and multi task
- Ability to organize work and operate related equipment. Adapt, prioritize and complete work with frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform a significant amount of lifting, walking, bending, stooping and stretching to carry out job duties, cleaning tasks and operate equipment on a daily basis.
