Our Edson location is seeking a committed, compassionate Employment Advisor to join our STEP UP: Skills, Training, Employment Pathways program.
In this role, you’ll work with a diverse group of individuals — some seeking general employment support, others navigating complex challenges such as long-term unemployment, disabilities, housing instability, addictions, or mental health concerns. You’ll provide trauma-informed, person-centered support, guiding each participant through their unique journey toward stability, confidence, and meaningful employment.
What You’ll Do
Client Support & Employment Services
- Support clients with a range of needs — from job readiness basics to intensive wraparound assistance
- Assist with resumes, job searches, applications, and interview preparation
- Facilitate weekly Job Seekers meetings and employment-related workshops
- Develop and track individualized Employment Action Plans
- Provide coaching, encouragement, and referrals to training, income support, housing, or mental health services
- Help with government forms and digital tools, ensuring clients can access needed resources
- Document all supports in the COMPASS case management system (training provided)
Office & Program Administration
- Keep the in-house and digital job board updated with local labour market info
- Monitor trends in employment and training opportunities in the region
- Maintain clean, functional workspace and client tech stations
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting, documentation, and social media updates
- Provide friendly front-line service to walk-in clients and phone/email inquiries
Community & Employer Engagement
- Build strong relationships with employers and local service providers
- Participate in community events and job fairs
- Promote STEP UP services through outreach, flyers, and social platforms
Team & Professional Development
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of social workers, educators, and program staff
- Contribute to planning, improvement, and integrated support across HELP programs
- Attend regular team meetings and ongoing professional development
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma/degree in Human Services, Social Work, Education, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years supporting individuals with employment barriers and/or complex needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organization skills
- Digital literacy (Microsoft Office, Zoom/Teams, Canva, etc.)
- Comfortable facilitating small groups or workshops
- Culturally responsive, with an understanding of Indigenous perspectives and rural realities
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
